rise robot

Robots are now an important part of surveillance efforts but there is still a long way to go before an entire operation would be carried out using androids. RiSE has been a popular name, at least for those who follow robotics closely and the latest version which is the RiSE V3 is sure to make that bunch of people happier. Being showcased at the International Conference on robotics and Automation (ICRA 2009) Japan, RiSE V3 is a robot capable of scampering along the ground and climbing vertical structures with equal ease. It is the first robot to achieve a vertical climbing speed of 21 centimeters per seconds, thanks to the surgical needles which function as claws and dig the vertical surfaces, helping it tread quickly. Developed by the researchers at the University of Pennsylvania RiSE V3 cold be invaluable in surveillance operations or the search and rescue acts as it has the ability to get stationed at angles which are beyond human reach.
