SanDisk’s new Write Once Cards to have 100 Year Shelf-Life
Posted By: Asmita Prasad | Jul 16 2008
The latest card type from memory maker SanDisk may be rather curiously named WORM, which is short for Write Once Read Many, but the digital memory card promises a whole lot of features that make it definitely stand apart from competition. For starters the card cannot be erased making it ideal for applications like police reporting, electronic voting, and court testimony. Designed to replace traditional analog technologies like audio tape and film, the SD WORM can prevent data tampering thanks to a new format that locks as soon as a recording is made. And the best part is that the card also has a 100-year shelf life given the optimum condition though the 128MB capacity may be something the company might want to improve upon.
