SanDisk’s new 64GB Solid State Drive is the world’s smallest

It seems our entire world is getting smaller and smaller. From small media players to small phones and now, it seems SanDisk is hell bent on proving it by creating 64GB solid state drive with size as small as a postage stamp and weight as light as a paper clip. The company has announced that it is the world’s smallest and it is ready for plethora of internet tablets and smartphones to be churned out in couple of years. However, at present this SSD is only available for sampling to OEMs, at the same time it is being evaluated by top-rank manufacturers. With its small size and light weight, it is a heavyweight in its tribe with lot of potential. As, Doron Myersdorf, senior director, SSD marketing, SanDisk says, “The new category of embedded SSDs should enable OEMs to produce tablets and notebooks with an unprecedented combination of thin, lightweight form factors and fast performance."
