Samsung Electronics has developed a higher-capacity version of its solid-state disk, a flash-memory-based replacement for hard disks. The drive packs 32GB of flash memory into a case the same size as a 1.8-inch hard drive.

The company plans to offer two variants of these solid flash drives a 32 GB 2.5-inch form factor version and a slim-type devices with capacities of 16 and 32 GB.

Samsung claims that the drives will reach data speeds of 57MB/s and data write speeds of 32MB/s, which is more than double the performance of a typical hard disk.
