Samsung's new 800x480 AMOLED panels for better brightness, efficiency

Samsung Mobile Display has further tightened its grasp on the AMOLED market with color rich and highly bright organic display panels, which feature WVGA 800x480 resolutions at 300PPI. Matching the resolution of the mobile LCDs, the new AMOLED panels are four times clearer and about 40% more power efficient than the present 400x240 resolution displays. We’ve seen AMOLED on phones and portable media players, and with the brightness and colors the new AMOLED touts, we believe the future of more brighter, efficient and colorful mobile screens is nearing. Samsung’s begun sampling the AMOLED panels, but nothing about the mass production is known yet, so there’s still time.
