The Rumor

Yahoo Korea has firstly published the rumor about the Samsung Galaxy Q. Later, leading tech blog Slashgear and some others emerged up with the rumor. Yet, Samsung that leads the production of Android smartphone, thanks to its Galaxy S series, has not said anything about the rumored product.

The Unknown

Little is known about the technical specifications and features of the speculated Samsung Galaxy Q. According to reports, the new device may likely feature both 3G WCDMA and 4G LTE options, as expected in any new Samsung product. It will also have a Super Amoled Plus display. The sources have revealed no other details about the product. The resolution of the device’s screen is not even obvious. Samsung has slotted in a display of 1024 x 600 resolution on its market-hit Galaxy Tab tablet. Samsung Infuse 4G, the company’s biggest-display smartphone with 4.5-inch screen has a resolution of 800x480 pixels.

The Known

Since there is no official announcement, nothing can be exactly said about the upcoming Samsung product. The company is rumored to showcase the new product at the IFA show in Berlin in September 2011. We can wait until then to hear something official about the Samsung Galaxy Q.

What if it’s true?

The possible screen size of the Samsung Galaxy Q simply reveals that the device is designed as a stepping stone between a smartphone and a tablet. 4G LTE connectivity will help the device to attract customers as it provides a perfect platform for Web surfing, navigation, video watching, and gaming. Its portability being a tablet and ‘pocket-ability’ being a smartphone will indeed help Galaxy Q gain toehold in the market, analysts point out.

Nothing can be said on which Andorid version the gadget will be running. Being a device in between a tablet and smartphone, it may run either on Andorid 2.3 Gingerbread or Andorid 3.0 Honeycomb. In short, we can immediately expect another stunning product from Samsung, which made its Galaxy Tab tablet and Galaxy S smartphone a success even though Apple iPad and iPhone dominated the global markets.
