
Samsung Electronics has announced the latest in its lineup of DVD and Blu-ray players at CES, and from the looks of it the company has taken a great stride in asserting its supremacy in this market segment. The two frontrunners in Samsung’s lineup this year are the BD-P1500 and DVD-F1080.
BD-P1500
First up, let’s take a look at BD-P1500. This is a fourth generation Blu-ray player and is characterized by its amazing looks. Samsung’s has always shown faith in Blu-ray format and a dedicated HD BD-P1500 player is a reiteration of that faith. This player is very versatile and can play Blu-ray, DVDs or CDs with equal ease. Also it converts DVDs to 720p, 1080i and 1080p resolutions for a wonderful viewing experience. An HDMI 1.3 port provides an easy connectivity with other peripheral devices.Users can also download latest upgrades with the player’s built-in Ethernet. The player also provides for an enhanced audio experience using 7.1 PCM, Dolby TrueHD, DTS-HD High Resolution and Master Audio, and Bitstream audio output via HDMI. All this comes at price though – a total of $399. Expect it to hit shelves in June 2008.
DVD-F1080
Next up is the upscaling portable DVD player the DVD-F1080.This one is great looking and without being compromising on feature-front. An ultra-small paler, DVD-F1080 has touch-sensitive controls for an uncanny easy in use. It can convert standard 480p discs to 720p, 1080i or 1080p, providing for some amazing picture quality. Compatible with a variety of multimedia formats like DivX, MP3, Wma, MPEG4 etc, the player delivers a rare combination of good looks with feature packed performance. This one would be released in April and will be sold at $99.Samsung’s newest lineup promises a lot and its launch would be eagerly awaited by all those looking to bring home the latest in tech this year.
