Samsung is always ahead of times with innovations that win appreciation within no time. The latest Samsung Mobile Display-SMD- prototype that was revealed at the Society for Information Display 2009 is another one of those novel inventions. Also dubbed the AMOLED, the SMD is a 6.5-inch flexible OLED screen. The developers claim that this prototype is better than all the previous versions as it does not require low-temperatures for display production and also for the fact that the productions costs are very low, which means these screens can be mass produced in the near future. Another great advantage is that the response time of the SMD is 1000 times faster than that of an LCD. Once mass-produced, who knows, the AMOLED could well be our future newspaper, e-passport or even a military map.
