Samsung’s 1GHz ARM-based dual core chip for mobile devices coming soon

While the technical world around us is going portable and mobile, the need of the hour is devices that are smaller yet powerful and power efficient. To add to this draw, Samsung has announced a 1GHz ARM Cortex A9 dual core chip, the Orion. Being based on the Samsung's 45 nanometer low-power platform, the chips would be slotted with storage and memory configurations which make the Cortex A9 dual core chip both HD and the new 3D ready.

The 1GHz ARM Cortex A9 dual core chip gets a both SATA and eMMC interface so it supports all kinds of storage options. Besides being included with GPS, the chips 1GHz cores come with 32KB data cache and a 32KB instruction cache, while it has 1MB L2 cache which’ll enable great CPU processing performance and better multi-tasking on the device. Samsung is slated to begin mass production of the Orion chips in the first half of 2011.
