Samsung electronics have announced hybrid hard drives with faster read/write speed. The hard drives will be far better than the traditional hard drives. They shall comprise of 128MB or 256MB of buffer, which will allow faster data transfer.
HHDs will add a new layer of cache consisting of Flash memory that is non-volatile, which can be used faster when the drive is powered on of course.
Samsung is also still reportedly working on solid state hard drives (SSHD) that will be composed of completely flash memory which would enable you to use virtual memory and eliminate the use of separate hard drive, with relatively high data transfer speed.
