These new players named BD-P2400 and BD-P1400 are based on the native HD resolution that is 1080p /1080i / 720p and can handle HD video at 1920 X 1080. These players can also up-convert standard DVDs to 1080p via HDMI.

These new entrants in the market offer proprietary de-interlacing to offer high quality video. If we talk about the audio there is nothing new to offer. It just offers regular stereo sounds with 5.1 channel system, coaxial and optical digital outputs with Dolby Digital Plus and MP3 playback capabilities. On the video side the player offers HDMI, component, S-Video and composite outs.

Samsung expects both the players to be out by October this year bearing a price tag of $649 for BD-P2400 and $549 for its younger sister.
