Samsung brings VGA resolution on cell phone displays

Samsung Electronics has just displayed the industry's first 1.98-inch cell phone LCD panel with VGA resolution promising high quality mobile TV images. The display technology showcased at the Society of Information display conference, offers image quality equivalent to high-definition LCD TV delivering around 400 pixels per square inch and achieving 250 nits of brightness and a contrast ratio of 300 to 1.

Samsung has used amorphous silicon gates into the new displays and is now planning to move a step further by churning out 16 million colors.
