So ultimately the much talked about fuel cells are here. Samsung SDI Co., Ltd., together with its partner Samsung Advanced Institute of Technology (SAIT) has worked out the first prototype fuel cell for portable multimedia players (PMP) that can boost a 1.5-watt player for around 4 hours loaded with a replaceable methanol fuel cell cartridge. The fuel cell will be out not before 2007 or 2008. Samsung is also planning to upgrade the fuel cell to give energy for 10 hours on a single charge.
