Alphonse Maniriho, a 23-year-old unschooled guy from Rwanda has designed a cycle that doubles up as an ultra-customized bike taxi. The young guy has used a watch set in an old shoe polish can to probably indicate the time, and has got the cycle installed with lights that flicker in the back and the front at the night. Rwandan roads being treacherous, this is a useful custom. The guy also has installed a radio for the entertainment purpose of his passengers. The cycle, which is called a ‘Boda Boda’ has a large seat at the back, which ferries people around. This DIY bike could probably astonish those in the western world with it’s innovation and simplicity, which is what DIY is all about in the first place.
