Rumor: BlackBerry Curve Touch leaked, ditches the physical keyboard

It seems that RIM is not able to maintain the secrecy of the look and appeal of its new phones. The latest rumor has it that RIM is gearing up for the launch of its new BlackBerry – the BlackBerry Curve Touch, which will come without a keyboard. The BlackBerry Curve Touch is giant leap of RIM toward the touch phones. This gadget had been expected as a follower to the BlackBerry Storm - first and only RIM touchscreen phone which entered the markets in 2008. BlackBerry Curve Touch will run on a BlackBerry OS and will come with a 800MHz Qualcomm MSM8655 processor. It'll boast of a 3.25-inch touchscreen display, 5MP camera, 720p HD video recording, a slot for microSD memory card, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, A-GPS as well as track pad.

CrackBerry spills the beans

CrackBerry managed to get images of the BlackBerry Curve Touch on Jan 27, 2011 from Barcelona, which has made it very clear that RIM has decided to forgo the physical keyboard and instead come up the touchscreen. According to CrackBerry,

The Curve Touch, codenamed "Malibu," and its all touch screen -- unlike the rumoured Apollo, there's no keyboard in sight. The BlackBerry Curve has always been our favourite 'berry because of its solid keyboard and lack of pretension to any functionality beyond great messaging, but it looks like things are about to change fast.

The model, expected to be released by late 2011 or early 2012, is the first RIM BlackBerry model without keyboard, the trademark of the Curve series. The BlackBerry Curve Touch is expected to come with the following specs:

Verdict

RIM has also joined the race of touchscreen phones by opting to go in for a drastic revolution on the classic BlackBerry design with the BlackBerry Curve Touch. But we have to wait and watch to see what BlackBerry Curve Touch has really in store for the gadget freaks! Maybe RIM is planning for a GSM version also!
