Apple is known for creating exciting and unique gadgets and it seems the company is planning to keep up with this tradition further. It is being rumored that the Apple is all set to launch a new and unique line of MacBooks that are completely different from the products available in the market today. The rumor further states that these new products may be launched with a new brand name and identity all together. Although the rumor fails to disclose any details but it does specify that these new MacBooks may hit the market before the end of 2011.

The rumor: The rumor came into light when a Japanese website Macatakara.jp uploaded a report, indicating the same on its website on 22nd of August. However, given the fact that the report is very vague in itself, it is difficult to suggest whether the rumor is actually true or not. Apple had earlier stated that it is planning to transform its MacBook Pro notebooks into thinner enclosures similar to that of MacBook Air. The company had further clarified that while doing the same, it will remove the traditional HDD’s (Hard Disk Drive) and replace it with Solid State Drives as well as jettisoning ODD’s (optical disc drives) completely.
What must also be noted here is that macotakara.jp has not always been successful in making predictions, especially regarding Apple's Products and future plans. While one of its reports regarding Apple’s plan to introduce second generation iPad in the month of March and delay the launch of iPhone 5 to later in the year, was accurate, other reports pertaining to all new MacBook Airs sporting high-speed 400MBps flash memory as well as iPad 2 with flat-back had no truth in them.
The unknown: Macotakara.jp cited an anonymous source within Apple’s Asian supply chain to state that Apple is probably seeking help from the suppliers of components to introduce completely different Macs, which are also different from the existing Apple products. However, as far as specifications and features of the product is concerned, the website could not provide sufficient details.
The Known: While the rumor mill is abuzz with the news about the new line of MacBooks, Apple is yet to comment officially on the matter. On the other hand, sources within Apple pointed out that the Japanese website's report fails to provide any details pertaining to the issue. Besides, the rumor discusses about a different initiative from Apple all together.
What if it’s true? Given that more and more consumers are willing to move away from the traditional PC’s and opt for a wide range of mobile products, the rumor, if at all is true can relieve those who are looking forward to purchase exciting gadgets designed by Apple.
Besides, if there is any truth in the rumor, then there is every chance that the new products could essentially be a new line of MacBook Pros that will be designed after MacBook Air. This essentially implies that these new gadgets will be slimmer, avoid disc drives and include a solid state drive. This can very well be true as laptop PC makers are increasingly opting for solid state drives. Apple may very well use the current MacBook Pro 13-inch device and remove the ODD inside it to turn it into a lighter and thinner device, which would any day be more stronger when compared to the MacBook Air. However, these products will not be able to match the functionality offered by the 15-inch or 17-inch Mac Pro devices.
