Rolling Ball Lego Clock to melt down the usual tick-tack

Posted By: Vikas Shekhawat | May 2 2006

Why do we've to mess up things to create the weirdest clock to see how much time we've dumped to carve it out? But Lego freaks can always cross limits to put those bricks into shapes and Bob Kojima is one of them. Bob's Lego version of the original rolling ball clock created by Idle Tyme Corporation seems more interesting. Even you can create on of your own, in case you're sick of the usual tick-tack.

How it works:

The clock works by using steel balls to indicate the exact time. The bottom rail represents the hours. The middle and upper rails are used to represent the minutes. An electric motor scoops up a ball every minute. Every five minutes, the top rail will dump and deposit a ball on the second rail. Every hour, the upper and middle rails dump and one ball is transferred to the bottom rail to increment the hours.
