Rohm creates PicoLED and announces its mass production

Miniaturization in the size of new components developed is the primary motive behind the modern technologies. Rohm, a Kyoto based electronics components creator has created the world's smallest LED that measures just 1.0 x 0.8mm.

The company is set to start the mass production of these PicoLED's and will be producing 10 million diodes. The LED is smaller than the smallest LED in use that was 1.6 x 0.8mm and just 2mm thick. This new LED will find great application in portable devices making them handier for use. A sample of this LED is available for just 100 yen.
