ROCR wall-climbing robot wags its tail to scale heights

We’ve seen a humanoid climb up the walls and also a wall-painter bot scaling the walls like a Spiderman, therefore this ROCR Oscillating Climbing Robot by mechanical engineers at the University of Utah, isn’t all that new to our eyes. But the ROCR is in a league of its own, that because it very strangely uses its tail motions to climb up the walls at 6.2-inches per second, which is by far the fastest any climbing robot has ever managed. The tail which aids the bot in its endeavor is integrated with microcomputer, sensors and power electronics that make it all easy a task for the ROCR. The catch here for now is that the robot has couple of tiny, steel, hook-like claws, which make it good only for carpeted walls. Follow the jump to see the video demonstration.
