Robots to explore unexplored parts of Antarctica

US scientists are creating a robot brainier than them. James Lever, an engineer with the U.S. Army Cold Regions Research and Engineering Laboratory told BBC that robots are about to undertake an expedition in the unreached areas of Antarctica where human venture is impossible.

These robots will be sent on two kinds of scientific missions on their own by 2007 end. One will take the data requested like sampling for bacteria in the snow, measuring the atmosphere, or doing a glaciological survey with ground-penetrating radar along the route. The other mission would be simply to set up array-based sensor networks.
