Professor Shigeo Hirose from the Tokyo Institute of Technology is the winner of the Engelberger Robotics Award (the world’s most prestigious robotics honor), and if you visit his lab, you’ll figure out for yourself why so. He’s got his laboratory filled with walking, climbing, crawling and swarm-type robots, but BBC’s Richard Black banking on the opportunity to get into Hirose’s lab shows in the video, some of the latest creations from the brilliant mind. Amid the snake and other walking and crawling robots the main eye catcher is Hirose’s rescue robot for survivors in event of an earthquake that he is developing.
