Robot that thinks and acts like humans developed in Tokyo

Do you remember the series ‘Small Wonder’ that used to get aired on Star World? It was indeed one of the most popular programs in the world. And the reason was of course the character of a robot VICI. Many children used to imagine to have a robot like VICI with them in real life. But, why do we need to imagine now, when it has become reality? Yes, Hasegawa Group at the Tokyo Institute of Technology has developed a robot that can actually think, learn and act like us!

Researchers have created an advanced doll now that uses its artificial intelligence and past experiences for effective functioning. A technology called SOINN (Self-Organizing Incremental Neural Network) and self-replicating neural network is used in the robot that makes it think like humans. Based on its programmed knowledge, it can make guesses and decisions.

The earlier robots, though trained to take various tasks, only worked in a specific environment in which they were trained. When the environment was changed, they failed to respond. However, unlike them, this advanced android can adjust itself according to the environment. Moreover, the robot also knows to take help of fellow robots. At times, when the robot is supposes to do such things that are not fed in its memory, it connects with other robots all over the world and transfers data to get your work done!

SOINN obtains its information from various sources including internet, that makes it think like us. The information is in the form of visual, auditory, and tangible data. This robot is believed to make a revolution in technology. So with the development of such robots, this universe will become a universe of robots in a few decades for sure.
