Engineering scholars from a University in Holland have fabricated something that may change the face of the modern-day airplanes and flying machines. They have researched on a new airplane design that is instigated from a high flier - the Swift.

Swifts are known for their uniquely shaped wing pattern that enables them to conquer the skies. Christened - the RoboSwift, this new conceptual plane is capable of maneuvering its wings so as to cut through the maximum amount of air during flight and hence making the best use of its streamlined shape. The engineers have incorporated a shape shifting wing style that is similar to that of a Swift.

This unique technique helps the airplane fly efficiently with the least air resistance making it one of the breakthroughs in the flying history till date. The test plane weighs a mere 80 grams and may be used as a spy plane during warfare.

The high-powered ‘electromotor’ is capable of delivering a constant power to the RoboSwift’s propellers through its ‘lithium-polymer rechargeable batteries’.

Delft University got the privilege of displaying this airplane to the world. By January next year, some latest set of micro-airplanes would come into use globally. India should feel proud too as a team of university students would debut three RoboSwifts at the first ever American-Asian Micro Air Vehicle competition to be held in India in March 2008. This is in fact a great innovation for army surveillances and “warfare spy planning techniques”.
