Are you worried or dissatisfied with your PC applications and operations? Or, are not able to track what is happening at your house. Don’t worry! Robopec, a company specialized in robotics and advanced systems has recently developed REETI, a new robot and a full-fledged media PC. After having worked on this project for a while, the company brought this robot to public thorough Innorobo, a robot exhibition that took place in Lyon, France in March this year. Unlike other robots, REETI combines a full home theater PC and communicative robotics. REETI is a multimedia tool and a user-friendly interface which can be used with an iPhone or iPad. It is a flexible, touch sensitive skin robot that has the ability of showing numerous postures and facial expressions.

REETI can hear, speak, see, and move its head, eyes, eyelids, ears, and mouth. Three touch sensitive sensors are included in its cheeks and the nose that enables it to feel the touch of a human and react to it. The color on his cheeks also gets changed according to his mood. One 720p HD camera in each eye is fitted along with its 3D perceptive view. This HD camera allows it to identify and follow the people and objects. The robot also has the ability of recognizing the words and the sound from where it comes. It can also speak the lines typed through text-to-speech software. The robot also includes a blu ray reader and a DVD burner making it a full-fledged home theater.

REETI is an open development platform, when connected to the web receives emails, reads RSS feeds and also communicates through face book through its speech synthesis. REETI’s technologies are based on LINUX operating system. REETI runs on an Atom Dual Core 1.8GHz processor that is accompanied by a 500GB hard drive. The HD cameras fitted into its eyes are 720p. A screen, a keyboard and a mouse are connected to it. This authentic tool weighs around 4 kgs and is 44cm high. The robot also includes a trio of USB 3.0 ports, a couple of USB 2.0 ports, a mic, a speaker, an HDMI interface, Wi-Fi, and Ethernet connectivity.
Thus, this pioneering invention apart from personal use can be used in firms and professional organization, research laboratories and in teaching.
