ISS (International Space Station) is one big robot, fighting its way out in the unknown space, but these itsy-bitsy machines too want to prove their mettle. The seeds, to take robot battle to space, were sown in March this year at the ROBO-ONE competition held in Tokyo with organizers confident of taking the battle in space in the year 2010.
We’ll soon see the deadly blend of robotics and space, as per ‘ROBO-ONE in the Space’ official website that aims at fueling creativity of engineers and take robot technology at a new altar. The battlefield will encompass the ROBO-ONE satellite at an altitude of 400 to 600 km in a polar orbit. Biped robots will be attached with a 5m ring to the satellite and will be packed with sensors.
It’ll be a notable achievement for the organizers to operate in vacuum in the midst of extreme temperatures and radiation. The next battle field will definitely be moon and then mars and then...
