When 35-year-old Cui Runquan from Hebei Province, China wanted to simplify the process of making hand-shaved noodles, he adopted a robotic perspective. He innovated Chef Cui – a robo chef who can make perfect hand-shaved noodles. It's quite unbelievable that Cui Runquan who has developed this robot left schooling at the age of 15. His new innovation would be funded by a Beijing-based company, so more Chef Cui robots could be seen in the coming years.

As soon as the robot is given commands, it precisely shaves the noodles by using different angles and positions of his blades. Cui Runquan says that “All day long, I used to work beside a pot of boiling water, shaving noodles by hand and pouring them in. It’s hot and steamy work, and I thought how wonderful it would be if I could build a robot to do it for me.” Robotic technology in the hospitality sector is not a new concept. MK Restaurant has deployed a robot called Din Sow which greets and entertains its guests. The restaurant has also collaborated with Bangkok University to develop a robotic waiter, Yumbo. Maybe MK restaurant can derive some more inspiration from Cui Runquan's new robo chef.
