Price and availability

Scheduled to be launched first in the Korea, according to CDON.se the dual-core LG Optimus 2X will cost about 4,999 KR (approx £470 or $730). It is reported that after Korea the Optimus 2X will be launched in Sweden followed by a UK launch on January 24 (tentative).

The up side

The LG Optimus 2X gets in itself a dual-core processor which enhances the smartphones capabilities to run multiple applications and programs more smoothly, which isn’t possible with single core processor phones that show screen lags in multitasking. The dual-core processor of the phone also lets the phone runs at a clock speed of 1GHz at minimum power, but still enhance performance, video and audio playing abilities, increase and provide better and faster web browsing and gaming experience.

The down side

The Optimus 2X’s dual-core processor isn’t all advantageous, it comes with some drawbacks that add to the phone’s downsides. There’s no word on the phone’s expected standby time from LG, thus we guess the dual-core processor will eat up on the battery life more rapidly. LG hasn’t been a great name in the mobile market, so big mobile phone player with the second dual-core processor may just out play the LG Optimus 2X.

The bottom line

It wouldn’t be wrong to say that we’d all been waiting for dual-core phones to hit the market, though LG was the least expected to break the barrier. Now that LG has, with the splendid LG Optimus Dual Core phone it is fitting for us to relish the lightening fast and the feature packed phone carrying the blessings of the Android OS. Though we have experienced the benefits of 1GHz processing power on a handful of single-core phones on the market, its complete potential remains hidden, which could be possibly explored to the limit with the dual-core smart phone.
