virtual exercise bike

I don’t need to explain the benefit that you can derive from regular physical exercise. By physical exercise, we generally refer to a gym culture. However, researchers from Australia have come up with a new kind of exercising device that not only keeps us fit and healthy, but also keeps us cool. It is exercise in a virtual world where the so-called computer will have control on your body. Just imagine how it could be!

The researchers from the Queensland University of Technology (QUT) have designed a virtual exercise bike, which is entirely based on computer gaming programming. The virtual exercise bike enables you to do cycling in a thrilling way.

The virtual exercise bike occupies very less space. So, it can be used in both home and gym. The unique feature of the gaming program is that it uses Nintendo Wii remote controls to enable you customize settings. One of the remotes is attached to rider’s leg. The second remote is used to receive signals from an infra-red light fixed on the rider’s helmet. The prototype fitness system has also sound effects. Thus, you will enjoy bit by bit of your cycling.

Gavin Jones, a researcher at QUT explains,

We all do it, well at least we all should be doing it, but spending 30 minutes on the bike at the gym or in your own home is not really that fun. What we have done is develop a system that takes you on a new and exciting journey in virtual exercise.

The research team is now working to bring display system to the gaming programme by using video goggles.
