All budding hairstylists and kids longing to take up hairstyling as a profession may have the angel in disguise reveled to them in the haircut simulation system. Dubbed the Air-Hair the virtual reality system developed by robot research team at Tokyo Institute of Technology uses a manikin head and a motor attached pair of physical scissors connected to a screen showing the head of the manikin. The scissors create a similar resistance in the fingers as a real scissors in process of a haircut. Here in the simulation system, the hairstyle of the manikin changes in real-time as the scissors are run through it head, giving a fair and realistic idea of what the user’s doing on the head.
