Remote controlled R2-D2 made entirely from Legos

Many of us are fascinated by those vivaciously colored plastic bricks adorning a child's playroom or bedecking the floors of kindergartens. And some of us are obviously driven by this guileless passion to create something fantastic, sometimes even transcending to original; thus giving rise to an extensive subculture consisting of Lego movies, games, video games, and even amusement parks.

But in relation to our normal 'Lego building' skills, a custom made R2-D2 sculpture from Lego bricks is certainly rare. On the other hand, a custom made 'remote controlled' R2-D2 sculpture from Lego is even rarer! That's right; modder Peter Salter, who goes by his Flickr name Ickelpete has ingeniously contrived a fully controllable version of our beloved diminutive droid in Lego. Check out the video here.

Everything in this conception starting from the petite cylindrical body to the internal power points has been made from Lego. The final result is an intriguing specimen to behold (check out the video). The rolling of its bulbous head, the idiosyncratic sound effects and even the famous rolling 'third leg' emerging from the pelvic region has been taken care of. Now we don't know about hacking computers, extinguishing fires or even projecting holograms, but the design should surely make every Star Wars fan-boy's day a little bit merrier.
