Indian cellular service provider Reliance Communications has announced its entry into the exploring tablet PC market. Foreseeing the huge possibilities in the tablet market, Reliance has tied up with the Chinese product manufacturer ZTE to make an Android-powered Reliance 3G Tab. The device has grabbed instant media attention for its price. Reliance has plans to sell its tablet just for INR 12,999 (approx. $287). Stunningly, it is 40 percent lower than the prices of high-end tablets in Indian soil such as Apple iPad and Samsung Galaxy Tab.

The Reliance tablet will play on Android 2.3 Gingerbread and will run on the carrier’s 3G network for Internet connectivity. Indeed, the cheap price and connectivity with Reliance 3G will give an edge for the tablet in the Indian market over its dominating foreign rivals. Deep social networking integration, GPS, video chatting and video capturing features will further make 3G Tab a perfect tablet for Indian consumers.
Though priced low, Reliance 3G Tab is a competent gadget with high-end technical specifications under the cover. The tablet will have a 7-inch capacitive touch display with a resolution of 800 X 480 pixels, 800 MHz processor, 512 MB of RAM and 32GB of expandable memory. It will have 2-megapixel camera in the rear panel and a VGA camera in the front panel for video chatting. The 3400mAH, Li-On battery will provide battery life of nine hours on action and 300 hours on stand-by.
Moreover, the tablet will offer Wi-Fi hotspot. You can connect up to five Wi-Fi devices with the tablet for wireless Internet connectivity. Live TV, MS Documents on-the-go, voice calling, video recording and GPS are other notable features of the tablet. The device will be up for sales with certain preloaded applications. They are YouTube, Google Maps & Google Search, R World Online, Android Market, Gmail and a number of social networking sites including Facebook and Twitter.
Reliance has special 3G plans for its tablet. According to the company sources, there will be up to 50 percent knockoff in network plans from Reliance for 3G Tab. The company has not cleared when the device will land in the market for purchase.
