Regional Calorimeter Trigger: The world's fastest camera

Yes, it's the world's fastest camera, but is designed especially to capture space. Designed after draining in $6 million, 6 years and heroic efforts of 20 people the 'Regional Calorimeter Trigger' (RCT) can sort out 4 trillion bits of information per second and examine a billion proton collisions per second.

The camera will soon beef up the Compact Muon Solenoid (CMS) experiment, one of the detectors on the Large Hadron Collider (LHC) in Geneva, Switzerland.
