Android based tablets didn’t live up to the expectations

Customers of several generic tablets often complained that they were unable to get the device connected with the Internet. In online forums and social networks, you can see many people grumbling on this. It looks like that something wrong is there with the firmware that prevents the devices from getting connected with the Internet.

Processing speed is also cursed by Android tablet users. Tablets running on Android have been found to be a bit slower than several other gadgets. It may take time for a Web page with flash content and images to get loaded on an Android device with less RAM capacity.

No need to mention that Android Market falls short to the number of applications to Apple App Store. Of course, it is a huge disadvantage of the Android tablets. There should be more apps for a device to make it more competitive and interesting in the market.

Several analysts are of view that Android tablets should have some more competitive application ecosystem. According to Nvidia CEO Jen-Hsun Huang, without a competitive application store like iPad, Android tablets could not make gains in the market.

A survey from Blaze.io recently uncovered that many major Web sites do not appear properly on Android tablets. Those sites looked as they were on a 4-inch screen even on 10.1-inch Motorola Xoom.

Android tablets in the market are not enough to compete with a strong competitor like Apple iPad. If Android tablets hit the stores before Apple’s iPad, they would have some more influence in the market, analysts suggest.

The biggest competitor to all Android tablets is Apple iPad. Since iPad has a market share of more than 75 percent in the world, Android tablet often fail to attract the consumers across the world.

Motorola Xoom is one of first top-notch Android tablets in the market. Motorola announced the device at CES 2011 and unveiled in a couple of months. Though touted as the first 4G LTE tablet, the device has just started to get upgraded to the advanced connectivity technology on Verizon. Many more disadvantages including its graphics display issue are there with the Xoom tablet from Motorola.

Some tablets running on Android 2.2 Froyo were found to be having some serious Flash problems. Some users recently lamented that Flash software on their tablets from a Chinese company collapsed after a reset. They could not re-install the much-wanted software from Adobe’s site.

The Android platform itself has several disadvantages. Android is a Linux kernel based operating system. That means it is not easy for a user without deep knowledge in Linux to modify the software. Some other issues of Android OS like its slower performance also raise threat to Android tablets.
