We know, soldiers of tomorrow will be well equipped with smartphones, so instead of having them only add weight to the soldiers back, Raytheon visions to aid soldiers with the phones. For this the US based firm, whose anti-aircraft laser found way on to US Navy’s Phalanx, is developing an app for the Android phones, which would help the soldier locate enemies in the surrounding. The powerful software will gather real-time images from UAVs and satellites which will provide information to the soldiers about nearby license plates on cars or a person's facial features.

Mark Bigham, vice president for defense and civil mission solutions at Raytheon was quoted saying, “We're trying to take advantage of smartphone technology to tailor for what soldiers may need in the field.”
Raytheon has already tried the app on a few Motorola and HTC smartphones, and some members of U.S. Special Forces teams have tested the product. The $500 Raytheon handsets are expected to feature a color touchscreen, GPS, encryption software etc. I know if the app could turn out a success then there are many militaries across the world waiting to try it.
