It sounds out of the blue, but scientists at MIT's Media Lab Boston have in fact carved out Wi-Fi wine glasses embellishing the bond between long-distance relationships.

The high-tech glasses, known as lover's cups, gives a mutual drinking experience by glowing as soon you and your far-away partner raise them in celebration.

Jackie Lee and Hyemin Chung, experts in human-computer interaction, and the brain behind the innovation have deftly incorporated colored LEDs, liquid sensors and wireless (GPRS or Wi-Fi) links into a pair of glass tumblers to shatter the geographical barriers amongst lovers. The LEDs reacts as you touch the glass and as soon as your partner takes a sip the sensors feel the lips and make white LEDs on the rim of the other glass glow brightly. WOW!

I'm just thrilled with this ultimate innovation. It can turn out to be a boon for hospitals to track whether the patients have taken their medicines or are drinking enough water or not.
