Preview: ViewSonic ViewPad 7e 7-inch Android tablet for $200

ViewSonic has announced a 7-inch Android tablet, dubbed ViewPad 7e to retail at just $199. The new tablet from ViewSonic comes up in a time a number of low-priced tablets like Amazon Kindle Fire and Samsung Galaxy 7.0 Plus are announced. Of course, like Kindle Fire, ViewPad 7e will be a special tablet for eReading, web surfing and mobile entertainment.

What’s new

The American technology maker is not new to the tablet industry. The company already has a set of tablets like the ViewPad 10Pro, a 10-inch tablet (Windows 7 and Android versions) and the ViewPad 7, a 7-inch Android tablet. ViewSonic has now emerged with the new product that will land in stores in November.

What’s been refreshed

ViewPad 7e will be running on Android 2.3 Gingerbread. The device will be equipped with a 1 GHz processor, 4GB of on-board storage and an 800 x 600 multitouch display. The 7-inch tablet will indeed be a brilliant product with enough eReading, web surfing and gaming features and apps.

Great web experience: ViewSonic claims that its upcoming ViewPad 7e will have great web surfing experience. As the tablet is predominantly designed for eReading and web surfing, it is not surprising, indeed. Built-in support for Adobe Flash 10.3 makes sure you can surf through the web quite superbly.

Digital Library: ViewPad 7e can be your digital library. You can store all your books and magazines in the 4GB internal memory. For more memory, you can depend on the microSD slot that can be expanded up to 32GB.

HDMI output: You can stream 1080p video on an external display via the HDMI port of ViewPad 7e. Besides HDMI, you have 802.11 g/b/n Wi-Fi and Bluetooth support on the tablet.

Loads of preinstalled apps: ViewPad 7e comes with a host of preinstalled apps. You will have apps for anything on the tablet. Some apps include Adobe Reader, Amazon Appstore, IMDb, Kindle, Amazon MP3 Store, DropBox, MediaFly, Flash 10.3, TuneIn Radio, Wi-Fi Finder, AccuWeather and much more, says ViewSonic’s official portal.

One-stop shopping: Thanks to Amazon MP3 Store and Cloud Player, there will have access to millions of songs on ViewPad 7e. Subscribing and streaming contents will be quite easy on the tablet.

ViewScene 3D: ViewPad 7e will feature ViewSonic’s exclusive user interface, called ViewScene 3D. It will be a visually stunning user interface on the tablet.

What’s good

As per ViewSonic, its upcoming ViewPad tablet will run on 512MB DDR2 and an ARM A8 1GHz processor. A 3-megapixel rear camera and a 0.3-megapixel front camera will be on the device. A 3.7V 3300mAH will provide 5 hours of battery life. You can really enjoy eReading, web surfing and gaming on the cute and small ViewSonic tablet.

What’s not so good

Price tag of ViewPad 7e is certainly attractive. But at a glance at the specs and features, the device is nothing new. First of all, it is to run on Android 2.3 Gingerbread, the outdated version of Android. Moreover, many tech specs and components of the device are not competitive enough to take on rivals like Amazon Kindle Fire, which is to be sold for $199.

UnWiredView.com’s Florin says,

ViewSonic has officially announced that it’s bringing its latest affordable Android tablet to North America before the end of this month. Called ViewSonic ViewPad 7e, the new tablet runs Android 2.3 Gingerbread, and will be available for only $199.

The new tablet from ViewSonic will be available for just $199. It will be available for grabs in November this year in Latin American countries including the United States.
