Pressure Shoe marks movement, aids docs in treatment

Posted By: Bharat BhushanSharma | Jul 1 2009

In order to help patients who have trouble walking, owing to neurological disorder or an accident, an intelligent shoe has been developed by Martin Schepers of the University of Twente. The shoe is designed with four sensors that help compute pressure and movement during walking, providing the doctors with the correct pattern of walking to assist them in providing the most feasible treatment to the patient. Dubbed the Pressure Shoe, its embedded sensors for pressure and movement measure the strength exerted while walking and the movement of the foot respectively. Schepers is working for Xsens Technologies B.V, who are looking into possibilities of commercializing the Pressure Shoe. Do you guys like the idea? I definitely do. Thoughts?
