Creating cheap electronic devices has been a much hyped phenomenon in the developing world lately. India being in the epicenter, with claims of the people’s phone, and recently unveiled $10 laptop. Coming toward the West, however, we have Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez unveiling a $14 handset for his countrymen. Dubbed the El Vergatario, the cellphone with a MP3 player, radio and camera is made by Vetelca and is one of the cheapest in the world.
