A PlayStation3 Laptop which has the portability of its handheld cousin, but delivers the performance output of the original console must certainly be special. And special it is, with its sleek water cooled mechanism and blatantly hardcore specs. Designed by modder Pirate, this is actually the second PlayStation3 Portable he has created. And, going by the fact that it actually took a painstakingly three years to complete, we would naturally presume that it is also the more improved one.

Coming to the specs, the machine has a HD 720p/1080i screen (via HDMI), 500 GB of hard disk space, external PSU, along with built-in keyboard and speaker system. The 16.75”x13”x2.5” robust form comprises of sturdy aluminum base plate, with high-density poly vinyl Komatex constituting other components. The case was shaped in CNC machines, while the 3D design format was done in Adobe Illustrator.

The main feature of the contraption is its water cooled mechanism. Now, some of us may be turned off by the 'leaky' nature of such systems, but the modder had his reasons for inducting it. Taking into account the somewhat bulky form of the case, conventional heat-sinks would have added to the overall spatial magnitude. Instead, the petite case required by the water cooling along with smaller 4x40mm fans were apt for practicality of usage and overall decrease in volume. The PS3 game CDs also goes in backward without the compulsion of extension of the PS3 blu-ray cable.

All in all, the PlayStation3 Laptop is a novel conception, with loads of user friendly features. Maybe some improvements could have been done on the hefty size, but again a portable yet 'genuine' PS3 would make any gamer's day a tad bit brighter.
