Glare, whether out in the sun or under the fluorescent lights within, always creates a problem in viewing the screens of our mobile devices. Thus, Pixel Qi has fittingly introduced their e-paper display technology to minimize the viewing discrepancies. To make its presence in the laptops by the Q4 this year, we have an opportunity to see what the Pixel Qi screens are capable of in the pictures of a 10-inch Acer Aspire One notebook, wherein they have fitted the novel technology.
Touting their displays to be cost efficient with fast video refreshes, fully saturated colors and power equaling 1/2 to 1/4 of a regular LCD display, the Pixel Qi screens vision to save up to 5x battery life. The display’s will be made in two modes, one with backlight showing fully saturated colors, and the other with backlight that can be turned off.
Given their efficiency and innovative creation, the Pixel Qi displays promise 3x the resolution of any standard saturated mode. They are expected to be displayed at the SID Display and the Computex, where we’ll gain further knowledge on the e-paper’s characteristics.
