Pioneer’s Smart Cradle turns Smartphone into car navigation device

Pioneer has introduced its Smart Cradle smartphone which also functions as full-fledged wireless navigation device. This system consists of a smartphone, a special-purpose cradle, and the car navigator application DOCOMO DriveNet powered by Carozzeria. The cradle enables the smartphone to provide positional information using a GPS antenna, a gyro sensor and a G sensor. In addition to this the users can also download Pioneer’s Smart Loop application for enhanced route guidance based on traffic conditions. Aiming commercial operation the cradle and the smartphone will both be available during this fiscal year.
