Each day technology is transcending new dimension. This time, Pentax has gone on to reveal its shocking plan about the revolutionized version of digital camera. This camera is going to be more compact than the current camera systems by Olympus and Panasonic.

To shrink the camera, Pentax had to shrink the camera sensor to an inbuilt ½.33’’ image sensor. Thus, the company has largely compromised on its image quality which is something any shooter looks out for. Well, we can call it a major turnoff, but it might set your mood in when I will describe its compactness. With a thickness of approximately 3.9 x 2.3 x 1.2, you can hold this camera inside your fist. It is expected to make its market debut by the end of September in US providing you five different options for lenses.

Pentax offers a 25-80mm zoom lens, 35mm wide angle, fish-eye lens and 100 telephoto” toy” lens that deliver incredible sketching and variable sharpness,. Unfortunately, it will accept only new Q mount Pentax lenses that can be inserted through a tiny bayonet mount on the camera. You will get the benefit of getting a compact 8.5mm F/1.9 standard prime lens with a 5.5 x crop element with the camera as a kit. Like other ordinary digital camera, the camera sensor also includes image stabilization function to avoid shaking of images.

A durable magnesium alloy compliments to its light weight featuring a magnified LCD display for image viewing. Various in-built functions have been added to the Pentax Q. While this camera offers the versatility of HDR shooting; you can also capture images with a shallow depth of field through the inclusion of bokeh filter. No concessions have been made on the additional feature that current digital cameras offer like HD resolution video shooting.

It supports a 12 megapixel backside illuminated sensor. Clearing the doubts of noisy and tiny pixels, a Pentax spokesperson Chris Pound told that the small sensor will be compensated by backside illumination of the camera. Images from the pre-production sample favorably matches the image quality of Cannon G12. To deliver desired compactness, it can be easily observed that the Pentax compromised with the camera performance.

Well, it explains a lot. If there wouldn’t have been a slight compromise on the image quality, building the world’s smallest and lightest interchangeable camera was never attainable. The incomparable tiny size of the camera is enough to overstep the entire camera fraternity. No matter how ordinary the image quality is, this product is certainly a must buy camera ware. More evaluations are about to be made when the company will announce its price, till this gadget definitely deserves a hotshot tag.
