The idea seems to be scooped straight out of the Matrix. The Pentagon’s
defense scientists at the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency
(DARPA) are planning to insert micro-systems into insects at the pupa
stage and built a cyber-insect army to track explosives and data. The
cyber-insects will be controlled remotely.
The concept can give 100% foolproof results only if in stead of live
insects, robotic insects are used to track down information. It’ll not
be easy to control the insects and direct them to the predefined area
to do a planned job. They may go astray in search of food, as happened
in an earlier project.
