Swinging a golf club on a real golf course is perhaps a distant dream for the paralyzed. The most that futuristic technology offers the differently abled is in the motion sensing games like the Nintendo Wii, aiding them to live out their sporting instincts. But with the Paragolfer machine, the ones with lower limb paralysis could definitely sense hope of riding onto a lush green course and competing against the able bodied golfers.
The £10,000 Paragolfer machine is a three-wheeled buggy with a high rising seat, which lifts up to hold the person upright to play golf standing up. Golf fanatic Graham Hunt, 24, (paralyzed waist down) who developed the fad for the sport after playing a simulated version of the game on Wii, is now enjoying real golf with this high-tech Paragolfer machine. The machine could be a great impetus for others, and Hunt having found a route is now hoping to get this game to as many disabled people like him as possible.
