Better recording devices mean they require cards with high storage capacities and till now companies have done well in even outstripping Moore’s Law of doubling every 18 months. This demand for better and bigger memory options has forced manufacturers to constantly break records for having the most storage space in their devices.
This demand is also justifiable because the constant improvements in camcorders and high-resolution digital still camera require faster and better memory cards. Keeping this trend in mind Panasonic has announced a new 16GB Pro High Speed SDHC Memory Card with a data transfer speed of up to 20 MB/s. The card will be released in November bearing a price tag of $320.
The company has claimed that the card is ideal for AVCHD High Definition recording and when it is used with the company’s SD video camera it can record up to 4 hours of High Definition video in AVCHD normal mode, and approximately 2 hours 40 minutes of 1920 X 1080i full HD video in AVCHD fine mode.
