In the grand scheme of things what we hold on to today always might seem too small and too insignificant. That is not to say that we are getting philosophical, but at the rate at which technology is progressing ensures that your most proud possession might very well turn in to an ordinary object with the turn of the date. While I still think that modern display system has taken flight amazingly in the last decade or so, it seems that it is only still a fledgling that is just starting to realize the potential that it holds.
Panasonic have ensured that they end up stealing the show and hogging the spotlight by being the main event with the unveiling of the world’s largest plasma display during the International Flat Panel Display Expo held at the Tokyo Big Sight. Panasonic unveiled to the public for the first time its 150-inch plasma display panel and it is truly spectacular
The screen is roughly 1.9m tall and 3.3m wide, which is described as being “equivalent to the size of four tatami mats”. The plasma display boasts of a resolution of 4,096 x 2,160 pixels, a total of 8.84 million pixels, which is roughly four times that of full high-definition plasma displays. Panasonic anticipates that providing an entirely new image viewing experience not possible with conventional displays will cultivate an even greater demand for plasma display panels. So we do not have any idea about the price yet, but you can bet it is as larger than life as the display itself!
