Panasonic unveils its second generation rugged tablet PC, Toughbook H2

Panasonic demonstrates its next generation rugged tablet PC Toughbook H2 with more advanced features and capabilities. The compact tablet that plays on Windows 7 will be a perfect solution for employees in rough working conditions. Thanks to its improved performance and better sunlight viewability, Panasonic Toughbook H2 may outperform its rivals.

The second generation rugged tablet computer from Panasonic is built using an Intel Core i5-2557M ULV CPU with vPro technology. RAM capacity of the tablet is 4GB and it can be expanded to 8GB for more sophisticated usages. 320GB 7200rpm HDD with an optional 128GB SSD makes Toughbook H2 further stronger.

The tablet has a 10.1-inch touchscreen like most other ordinary tablets out in the market, and the weight is 3.5 pounds. In order to make its display survive direct sunlight, Panasonic has equipped Toughbook H2 with its featured TransreflectivePlus technology. It can produce up to 6000 nit of transflective brightness, which will help watch the content on the device’s screen clearer even in bright sunlight.

The battery of the device offers 6.5 hours of life. With a revamped desktop cradle and fast charging hot-swappable battery units, you may need only three hours to completely charge the device. It is another incredible feature of the Toughbook H2 tablet.

Being a great help for workers in tough conditions, Panasonic has prepared its H2 tablet with better ergonomics. A hand strap, which may make the tablet look like a small handbag, will help users carry the device quite comfortably in sturdy conditions. The Panasonic’s rugged tablet is certified by the military standard of MIL-STD-810G.

For connectivity, the tablet depends on Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and optional 4G. It offers key features like GPS, barcode reader, RFID reader, and fingerprint reader. The tablet mounts a 2-MP camera with auto-focus and an LED flash. The Panasonic Toughbook H2 will be up for purchase with a price tag of $3,449 from July 2011 across the world.
