Panasonic has been in a league of its own when it comes to developing assistance for the elderly and the disabled. Last year we saw a Robotic Bed that was designed with a motive to integrate a wheelchair into the bed. This gained much appreciation for its dual purposes and the simplicity it endured upon the individuals requiring assistance. Now, Panasonic has added to the assistance bed with integrated wheelchair a hair-washing robot, which on appearance may not look anything beyond a sink and a faucet riding on wheels, but when you’d detail it it’s a creation in itself.

Designed with a purpose to reduce burden for caregivers in hospitals and health care facilities, the hair-washing robot embedded with Panasonic’s robot hand technology and 16 fingers, scans each human head in 3D and then applies the right amount of pressure while the shampoo, massage and rinse phases engage. The arms have three motors that control the swing, press and massage motions alongside controlling the power detection sensors, thus providing that perfect massage and care of the head.
