Wireless headphones are the latest buzz in the market. They have several advantages over conventional wired headphones; the most prominent being that you are free from the hassles of attaching or plugging in your headphones to a PC or TV, or an MP3 player. You do not need any cords as these headphones communicate via radio signals or infrared to a central base station. You can listen your favorite music while cooking, exercising, or simply walking. However, the wireless headphones are an expensive buy. Besides this, they also have considerable problems in their audio quality because various other signals in that place, like your wireless computer network may interfere with the wireless audio signals. Therefore, it is always better to use them occasionally and not make them a permanent source. You can convert your wired set into wireless. All you need to do is to follow the steps given below in order to make your pair of wired headphones, wireless.

Complexity level: Moderate
Time required: 5-10 minutes
Resources required:
1. Determine the size of the plug on your device:
First of all, you need to determine the size of the plug on your device, such as the stereo receiver or the MP3 player etc. It can be either a 3.5 mm plug or 6.3 mm plug. Although, for most of the devices like iPods, smartphones and stereos, 3.5 mm plug is standard, but still some devices make use of 6.3 mm plug. In that case, you may have to use 3.5 mm to 6.3 mm adapter.
2. Connect the port on the device to the bluetooth audio adapter:
Next, you need to make the connection between the port on your audio device to the bluetooth audio adapter. For this, connect one end of the 3.5 mm extender cable to the transmitter portion of the bluetooth audio adapter and insert the other end into the port of the audio device. Your audio device is now ready to transmit signals without wires.
3. Connect the headphones to the bluetooth audio adapter's receiver:
This step is the reverse of the conversion process used in the previous step. Here you need to connect your headphones to the bluetooth audio adapter's receiver. Simply insert the wire from your headset into the headphone port of the receiver to complete this step. This receiver is small enough to fit in your pocket.
4. Pairing the transmitter with the receiver:
Answer: Infrared headphone are cordless headphones used for listening music. These headphones use a transmitter which connects audio source with the audio cables. This transmitter directs a focused beam of invisible and pulsating light from a light emitting diode (LED) towards a receiver built in the headphone set. These pulsations act as on/off signals which are translated digitally by the receiver into audible sound waves. Normally, infrared headphones have an effective audio range of about 10 meters (or 30 feet), and there must be a clear line of sight between the receiver and the transmitter.
Quick tips:
Zoom iHiFi 4360 Bluetooth Receiver or Xterasys BSR202 Bluetooth receiver are good examples of bluetooth audio receiver.
Things to watch out for:
You need to carry the bluetooth receiver with you every time you use the wireless headphones. Hence be careful, while working or exercising as it may fall and break.
