OSRAM Chipled SFH 4053 infrared emitter provides high output for touchscreens

Small in size and quite powerful, the new Osram ChipLED SFH 4053 infrared emitter is a great solution for providing high output for touchscreens. This brand new miniature device measures 0.5 x 1 x 0.45 mm, which makes it an ideal choice for all-in-one PCs, , tablet PCs, laptop displays, and smartphones. A thin film device in the system performs the work of delivering 35 mW from operating current of 70 mA.

Morever, the unit can achieve as high as 260 mW from 700 mA when activated in pulse mode. The light in IRED is hardly visible, which runs at just 850 nm of wavelength, though it can be detected by receiver components. In basic versions, the IREDs and detectors create a network of vertical and horizontal rays.

Right from the narrow-angle emitters for light grids to the low-profile components, the new ChipLED SFH 4053 lies in wide range of components. It can also be used in multi-touch displays installed in all the devices including all-in-one computer, tablet PC and laptop displays.

Osram ChipLED SFH 4053 is said to be the tiniest IREDs in the market. In addition to its small size, it plays a vital role in providing high profile outputs for the camera-based touchscreens as such kind of system needs fewer IR transmitters as compared to the earlier version. Being a part of Seimens and one of the two leading lighting manufacturers in the world, Osram has taken an intelligent step in the technology space.
